A.L.L. TKD Reading Program

The Academy of Life and Leadership Taekwondo (A.L.L. TKD), sponsored by Olympian Barb Kunkel, joins forces with parents and teachers of Colorado Springs to develop a popular reading program built on the concept of goal setting. The program is jump-started with an exciting and interactive presentation that combines taekwondo disciplines and the concept of achieving dreams. Young minds are encouraged to put an “Olympic value on Reading” as they play focus, confidence and goal-setting games that help them more fully understand the concepts behind the reading plan.

The program is designed to reward, not only the children who reach the highest level of achievement, but also those who show progress and double their reading from the year prior.
By recognizing all active readers, the children are encouraged to make progress in their reading skills no matter what level they may currently be at.

Master Kunkel says, "success breeds success" and believes children need to be encouraged to reach for their dreams.   Success in the classroom, starting at a young age, helps children realize that they can reach their fullest potential and enables them to keep the momentum going as they grow up.

Reading and taekwondo are both valuable tools for helping develop confidence, and confidence is a tool that will serve them well over the course of their lives.
